Hawaiian Steak Kabobs

Ingredients

Skewers Package

  • 8 oz top sirloin steak
  • 8 oz pineapple
  • 1/4 red onion
  • 3/4 c red bell pepper
  • 3/4 c orange bell pepper

Marinade

  • 1/4 c orange juice
  • 1/4 c soy sauce
  • 1/4 c brown sugar
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ginger minced

Scallions/Black Pepper Package

  • 1 scallion
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

Instructions

Prep Marinade

  • Combine all marinade ingredients in a small sauce pan. Stir while you bring to a simmer over medium heat. Once it reaches a simmer, remove from heat and let it cool.

Prep Ingredients

  • Cut steak and pineapple into 1-inch cubes so there are 12 pieces each. Cut the bell peppers and onion into 1-inch pieces.

Prep Skewers

  • Soak skewers in water for 30 minutes.

Assemble/Package Skewers

  • Combine steak, pineapple, bell peppers, onion, and marinade. Load the skewers by alternating between ingredients. Start with the red bell pepper, steak, red onion, orange bell pepper, and pineapple. 

Prep/Package Scallions/Black Pepper

  • Thinly slice scallions and package with black pepper in a small container.

Cook Kabobs on Grill

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Place skewers on the grill and cook for 5 minutes, flip the skewers, and cook for another 5 minutes until the steak reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees f (for medium doneness) and vegetables are tender.

Cook Kabobs in Oven

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees f. Place skewers on an ungreased baking sheet and place in oven. Bake, turning every 10 minutes, until the steak reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees f (for medium doneness) and vegetables are tender, about 25 minutes.

Serve

  • Divide kabobs onto plates. Sprinkle with scallions and black pepper on top.
